So I went to St. Maarten and it took me a couple of weeks to decide I am going back to school. But what was I going to study. After a conversation with an advisor at the University of St. Maarten, I decided to take on going for my Bachelors of Art in Education. This I did for one full term and a half a term. My mother got sick and I wanted to be close to her. So after 1.5 terms I stopped and returned home to Holland to be with my mother and never though of returning, let alone continuing my education.
Now this school year I was teaching 2nd grade which started off not so great in regards to the students. Yet after evaluation and some rearranging we managed to get things a little better. It was still a LOT of work with a LOT of behavior management. Yet when I look at the children and how MUCH they have achieved in just one year, my heart is filled with joy and I am very proud of my students. When I say that I am proud of them, I really mean that I am extremely proud seeing the circumstances that happened in September. You can already feel it coming right? Yes, HURRICANE IRMA!!! My class was destroyed, my personal chair broke, and a lot of teaching books got wet and moldy.... sigh..... That was terrible. That was horrible. The before, during, and especially after which still affects more than have the island and school even up to NOW! (August 2018) None the less we wanted Alexia's 2nd birthday to be memorable even if we had to make cut backs in the grocery sh...
